Wireless Charging!

Technology has advanced so much since the beginning of the twenty first century. Cell Phones are one of many technologies that have highly developed in the latest years. They started off by being the biggest object possible the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X and now to smart phones such as the HTC HD2. Now technology has made one step further in the way these smart phones are charged. How is that? They’re cordless!

The new Energizer charging station is soon to be launched this October at the price of $89. Its Qi built technology lets you charge up to 2 phones at a time! Sadly, the only phones that can be charged with this station are the iPhone 3GS and Blackberry Curve 8900. The other downside to the whole charging station is that you would have to use a Qi sleeve for the iPhone 3GS and a replacement Qi battery for the Blackberry Curve 8900. Energizer is hoping to soon build Qi right into all cell phones and other technology devices. This way any cell phone user as well as mp3 user will be able to charge their phone on the Energizer charging station even if they don’t have the aforementioned phones. The advantage of this whole charging station is of course that no cords are needed. That is except for the charging system itself. The downside to this whole charging station is the limit of phones it’s able to charge. Not everyone has an iPhone 3GS or Blackberry Curve 8900.

This new charging station is only one step closer to technology we hoped for ages ago. There’s nothing stopping us from discovering new technologies and further advance this charging idea along with other wireless devices. Eventually life as we know it will be powered by wireless technology. Wouldn’t that be interesting?

  1. Interesting find, Cintia. That commercial is so odd you probably could have written your entire post just on the language, choice of spokesperson, etc. I was most interested in the last line of your post, "Wouldn’t that be interesting?" I would like you to try to push your analysis a bit further. Why would that be interesting? Why it is about wireless charging that you feel is so important? What is the problem in having cords?
